As some of you may know, the Colley family recently took a trip to Australia via Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
It was an exciting adventure for all of us, but especially for (then) 6 month old Theo, who took it all in his stride. He was certainly a big hit with the Singapore Airline staff, attracted plenty of attention comment / smiles / waves in Singapore, he was popular in Melbourne, and his feet were much admired in Sydney!
I managed to achieve 2 goals, in that I’d always wanted to visit Australia and also to attend the first Formula 1 race of a new season – In fact I made it to the first 2 Grand Prix!! I witnessed the birth of the new generation of cars in Melbourne, and then Lewis Hamilton’s superb drive to win in Malaysia was a huge bonus. Australia was truly amazing – a holiday of a lifetime, and a case of grabbing the opportunity while we could. Ordinarily I wouldn’t take so much time away, but with Theo relatively portable, and Rachel off on maternity leave, it seemed too great an opportunity to miss. It was fantastic to spend that much time with our little man, and to have time for a proper explore of new places. From now on, I suspect it will be tents in darkest Devon!
The three weeks flew, and before I knew it I was back in the office and back to reality, which was actually equally as exciting. The first big family adventure is over, but we are looking forward to many more in the future. Plus, I’m certainly far more excited by this F1 season than I have been by the last few!
